Foden And Haaland Score Hat Tricks As City Run Riot

Manchester City thrash Manchester United in derby day rout

Foden and Haaland score hat-tricks as City run riot

United's poor form continues as they are humiliated by their rivals

Manchester City dished out a derby day thrashing to Manchester United on Sunday, halting any talk of a United revival under Erik ten Hag.

Phil Foden and Erling Haaland both scored hat-tricks as City ran riot at the Etihad Stadium, with United's defence all over the place.

The result leaves United in fifth place in the Premier League, 15 points behind leaders Arsenal, while City move back to within five points of the Gunners.

It was a chastening afternoon for United, who have now lost their last two games in all competitions and have not won in the league since beating Leeds on February 8.

Ten Hag's side were outplayed in all areas by City, who were simply too good on the day.

City took the lead in the eighth minute when Foden fired home from close range after being set up by Haaland.

Haaland doubled the lead in the 34th minute with a header from a Kevin De Bruyne cross.

Foden made it 3-0 in the 44th minute with a stunning strike from outside the box.

United pulled one back in the 56th minute through Antony, but City restored their three-goal lead just two minutes later when Haaland scored his second.

Foden completed his hat-trick in the 72nd minute, and Haaland wrapped up the scoring in the 84th minute.

It was a comprehensive victory for City, who were simply too good for United on the day.
